Basketball Game Preview: Vega Longhorns vs. Gruver Greyhounds

The Vega Longhorns will head out on the road to challenge the Gruver Greyhounds at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Gruver took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Vega, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Vega got the win against Logan by a conclusive 54-30. The win was all the more spectacular given Vega's disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 245th in Texas, while Logan is ranked 69th in New Mexico).

Meanwhile, Gruver unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Stratford, falling 60-39.

Gruver's loss dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Vega, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Vega strolled past Gruver in their previous meeting on January 7th by a score of 45-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vega since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
