Football Recap: West Anchorage Takes Down Ranked West Valley + How To Watch

West Anchorage faced West Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles slipped by the Wolf Pack 28-27. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

West Anchorage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Manny Maga, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Destin Prehn, who rushed for 63 yards and one score on only eight carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Anchorage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 250 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

West Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Wiedmaier, who picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 56 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sherer, who rushed for 95 yards and one score.

The victory was the third in a row for West Anchorage, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points on average this season. As for West Valley, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Anchorage will take on Colony at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Valley, they will look to defend their home field on the 6th against Palmer at 7:00 p.m.
