Basketball Game Preview: Gardena Panthers vs. South Gate Rams

The Gardena Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the South Gate Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

South Gate will be up against a hot Gardena squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Panthers claimed a resounding 42-12 victory over Manual Arts.

Meanwhile, South Gate got the win against Animo Robinson on Thursday by a conclusive 58-35.

South Gate's win came from a few key players that Gardena will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Drake Murguia, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 12 points and eight boards. He has become a key player for South Gate: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 0-12 otherwise. Jose Macias was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Gardena's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for South Gate, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.

Everything came up roses for Gardena against South Gate in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as the team secured a 59-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
