Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Mary can now relate to. They fell 64-55 to the Nichols Vikings on Sunday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Will Szablewski. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. What's more, Szablewski posted five assists, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Israel Wilson, who earned 15 points.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Nichols, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season.

St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nichols, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-51 defeat against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute on the 26th.
