Baseball Recap: DasCHE Takes a Loss

DasCHE extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 11-15 in the process. They came up short against the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots, falling 19-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.

As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For St. Louis HomeSchool P's part, Damien Hinze looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The Patriots are undefeated when Hinze allows two or fewer earned runs, but 11-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vinny Tornatore, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Schark, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, DasCHE and St. Louis HomeSchool P will both be playing West Houston HomeSchool the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Thunder at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
