Softball Recap: Harker Heights Gets the Win

After losing to Shoemaker the last time they met, Harker Heights decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Wolves since April 13, 2021.

The team relied heavily on Brianna Warriner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Uschan, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Harker Heights is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Shoemaker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-11-1.

Looking ahead, Harker Heights will welcome Temple at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Shoemaker does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
