Softball Recap: University Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for University's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jefferson Cougars on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Sophia Lehosit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Jefferson, their record is now 8-1.

University didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 victory against Morgantown on the 12th. Hopefully Jefferson paid attention to the Hawks' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
