Baseball Recap: Mount Carmel Find Success

Mount Carmel proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 16) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Danville Ironmen 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest the RED TORNADOES have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Noah Shimko looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Jon Morgante was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lukas Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mount Carmel now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Danville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.

Mount Carmel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-2 victory against Central Columbia on the 11th. As for Danville, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-2 win against Lewisburg on the 11th.
