Soccer Game Preview: St. John Paul II vs. Sturgis East

The St. John Paul II Lions will head out on the road to take on the Sturgis East Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Paul II is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.4 goals per game this season.

St. John Paul II is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Falmouth Academy just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Monday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The result kept St. John Paul II happy, as they haven't lost a game since August 21st.

Cody Boghdan and Max Depaula scored both of St. John Paul II's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a classic East v. West duel when Sturgis East challenged Sturgis West on Friday. The Storm played to a draw too, finishing 1-1 against the Navigators. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Sturgis East have been dealt a draw since September 2nd.

With that draw, Sturgis East's record moves to 2-2-2. As for St. John Paul II, they moved theirs to 7-1-1.

Everything went St. John Paul II's way against Sturgis East when the teams last played on September 4th, as St. John Paul II made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
