Baseball Game Preview: Tenino Beavers vs. Montesano Bulldogs

Tenino is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Montesano is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Beavers will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tenino 3.4, Montesano 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Saturday, Tenino earned an 11-6 victory over Kalama.

Jude Leitch made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leitch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Austin Gonia was a standout: he scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Will Feltus was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Tenino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Montesano was able to grind out a solid win over Elma on Friday, taking the game 6-1.

Tenino's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Montesano, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Tenino came up short against Montesano in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 16-11. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
