Volleyball Recap: Sterling Black Bears vs. Bennington Bulldogs
Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bennington Bulldogs. The Black Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Sterling sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 20-25, 25-23.
Bennington can attribute much of their success to Mara Pickering, who had 11 digs and one assist. Pickering has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.
Sterling now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Bennington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7 record this season.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bennington beat Sterling by a score of 2-0 later that day.
