Softball Game Preview: Port Edwards Blackhawks vs. Wild Rose Wildcats

The Port Edwards Blackhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Wild Rose Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Edwards has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Port Edwards came up short against Nekoosa on Friday, falling 26-6. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wild Rose never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Westfield Area on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pioneers 11-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Wild Rose moved to 10-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Port Edwards, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Port Edwards suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Wild Rose in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
