Mountain View is 0-10 against Orem since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Bruins will take on the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Mountain View will be strutting in after a victory while Orem will be coming in after a defeat.
Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Provo with a sharp 22-4 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Brinlee Gillman and Lucy Clark were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Gillman pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Clark tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Gillman scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Clark scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Mountain View got a massive performance out of Emily Telford, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Telford a new career-high. Sophie Stoddard was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Provo only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Orem duked it out with Payson on Tuesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 8-7. The Tigers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Kiley Hoshnic spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hannah Maylett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kate Allred, who went 1-for-5 with one home run.
Orem's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Mountain View, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-9.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View might still be hurting after the 26-3 defeat they got from Orem in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
