Baseball Recap: Northwest Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pope John Paul II last Tuesday, Northwest Christian came back down to earth. The Wolverines took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crosspoint Christian Wildcats on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Northwest Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Meier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Meier is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Northwest Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Crosspoint Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Christian will welcome Evergreen Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crosspoint Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Forks at 1:00 p.m.
