Softball Recap: Richwoods Falls to Leroy in First Game of Season

Richwoods had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the LeRoy Panthers, falling 13-3. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Sophie Gorell and Addison Morrissey did some serious damage despite the final result: Gorell went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double, while Morrissey scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Morrissey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Shaffer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for LeRoy, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Richwoods will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for LeRoy, they will take on Riverton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
