Basketball Recap: Central's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They breezed by the Dr. Krop Lightning to the tune of 103-63 on Thursday. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marlon Gaitan out in front who went 9 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keri Foster, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and eight steals.

Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Dr. Krop saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Johans Richards went 10 for 20 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christ Victorin, who posted five points in addition to six assists and five boards.

The victory (which was Central's tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.9 points. As for Dr. Krop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to square off against Miami Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Dr. Krop, they will head out to take on Coral Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
