Baseball Game Recap: Holly Hill Academy Raiders vs. St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers

Holly Hill Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-6 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

As for St. John's Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

For St. John's Christian Academy's part, Isaiah Antley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Antley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Aiden McCoy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. St. John's Christian Academy is undefeated when McCoy posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Parker Dinkens, who earned one RBI and three runs.

Looking ahead, Holly Hill Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Calhoun Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. St. John's Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
