Baseball Recap: Mira Mesa Comes Up Short

Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Green Valley Gators. That's two games in a row now that the Marauders have lost by just one run.

Mira Mesa got a good showing from Jacob Asuncion, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Asuncion has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aaron Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Mira Mesa now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Green Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

Mira Mesa has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Cathedral Catholic on the 9th. As for Green Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Shadow Ridge on the 11th.
