The Middleton Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Bishop Kelly Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middleton is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Middleton's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Columbia with a sharp 19-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mekenna Trimmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Qualls, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Libby Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Middleton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kelly faced Vallivue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Knights fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-6.
Like Middleton, Bishop Kelly also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Fettic. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Fettic has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Julia Baerlocher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Olivia Watt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Middleton's record now sits at 14-2. As for Bishop Kelly, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 10-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Middleton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bishop Kelly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Middleton came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Kelly when the teams last played on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
