Baseball Recap: Valor Christian Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Valor Christian's offense. They fell just short of the Arvada West Wildcats by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Will Hayes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Valor Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Arvada West, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
