Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Morse Tigers

Canyon Hills and Morse are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rattlers will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Hills has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canyon Hills' tournament run continued when they took on Mountain Empire on Tuesday. The Rattlers came up short against the Redhawks, falling 14-6.

Sam Wabe was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Canyon Hills: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6-2 otherwise. Taylon Sheriff also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Morse might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was New Roads who claimed the real prize. The Tigers took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars.

Moises Davison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Christian Fernandez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Morse has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-1 record this season. As for Canyon Hills, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7-2.

Canyon Hills might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Morse in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rattlers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
