The McCollum Cowboys will head out to square off against the South San Antonio Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McCollum barely beat Southside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. McCollum blew past Southside 10-3 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.
RUIZ MADELYNN made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. MADELYNN was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on SORAYA TORRES, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. MARTINEZ LAUREN also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, South San Antonio came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Bobcats' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.
Not much got past Catalina Bonilla, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Southwest Legacy off the board.
On the hitting side, Kendra Davila was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alexa Torres, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
South San Antonio kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
South San Antonio's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for McCollum, their record is now 13-3.
McCollum might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from South San Antonio when the teams last played back in February. Can McCollum avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
