Baseball Game Preview: De Soto Pirates vs. Seneca Indians

De Soto is 1-9 against Seneca since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will take on the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as De Soto comes in on ten and Seneca on four.

De Soto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Wauzeka-Steuben.

Seneca came out on top against Belmont on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Indians beat the Braves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2.

The team relied heavily on Gage Wall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Hagensick, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Seneca lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.

De Soto's record now sits at 23-3. As for Seneca, their record is now 19-7.

De Soto was able to grind out a solid win over Seneca in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
