Baseball Recap: Oakdale's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Oakdale waltzed into their match on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They beat the Eunice Bobcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1.

Braedan Strother spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddox Thompson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylar Ballard, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Oakdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Oakdale pushed their record up to 17-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eunice, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakdale will challenge Alexandria at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eunice, they will take on North Vermilion at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
