Basketball Game Preview: Shea Raiders vs. Ponaganset Chieftains

The Shea Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Ponaganset Chieftains at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Shea is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Shea was able to grind out a solid win over Classical, taking the game 50-41.

Tiyara Gonzalez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 11 steals. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Zareia Colome was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Shea smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ponaganset beat Westerly 56-46 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chieftains.

Shea now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ponaganset, their record now sits at 4-1.

Shea came up short against Ponaganset when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 57-52. Can Shea avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
