Basketball Recap: Adams Central Comes Up Short

Adams Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northwest Vikings. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Adams Central still got an impressive performance from Hunter Nepple, who posted 24 points. That was a full 40% of Adams Central's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Austin Vontz was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Adams Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Northwest, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Adams Central and Doniphan-Trumbull will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Adams Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. Northwest has already played their next game (against North Platte), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
