Basketball Recap: Rich Comes Up Short

Rich extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-4. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the North Summit Braves an easy 70-47 victory. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 63-55 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Rich still got an impressive performance from Carter Scott, who went 9-for-18 en route to 25 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Scott now owns an excellent 45.9% field goal percentage. Dylan Wasden was another key player, putting up four points and three blocks.

As for North Summit, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

North Summit got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kestin Richins out in front who shot 64% from the field to rack up 16 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tayton Pace, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 16 points and seven boards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Rich and Wendover will compete for holiday cheer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rebels will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 73 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Summit, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Millard at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
