Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Oakmont Regional Spartans

Clinton hasn't had much luck against Oakmont Regional recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Gaels will take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Clinton's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Oakmont Regional's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Clinton proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Quabbin Regional 5-4. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Clinton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Frisch, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that Frisch scored this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Oakmont Regional and Hudson, and Hudson kept the tradition alive. The Spartans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.

Clinton pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Oakmont Regional, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Clinton came up short against Oakmont Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Gaels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
