Preview: Winston County Yellowjackets vs. Carbon Hill Bulldogs
The Winston County Yellowjackets the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Carbon Hill Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Winston County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Addison, but they still walked away with a 45-41 win.
Winston County found their leader in underclassman Lynleigh Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Cobb has scored at least a third of Winston County's points. Lizzy Bass was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Carbon Hill slipped by Winfield 33-32 on Tuesday.
Winston County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. As for Carbon Hill, they pushed their record up to 12-11 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Winston County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to Carbon Hill in their previous meeting back in November of 2023.
