Hermon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Lawrence Bulldogs with a sharp 14-2 win on Friday. That's more bragging rights for Hermon, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mikelle Verrill and Braelynn Wilcox were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Verrill pitched three innings while giving up no earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Wilcox didn't allow a single hit, only one earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Verrill scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Wilcox scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
