Softball Recap: West Davidson Comes Up Short

If West Davidson was riding high fresh off their 19-0 takedown of Thomasville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Davidson Dragons came up short against the North Stanly Comets on Wednesday, falling 10-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost six in a row.

West Davidson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maci Harris, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another was Meghan Leonard, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Harris wasn't the only one working in the hit department: West Davidson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.

West Davidson now has a losing record of 4-5. As for North Stanly, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, West Davidson will venture away from home to square off against Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. West Davidson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season. As for North Stanly, they will welcome Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (North Stanly 2.6, Union Academy 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
