Volleyball Game Preview: Monte Vista Mustangs vs. San Ramon Valley Wolves

Monte Vista hasn't had much luck against San Ramon Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will take on the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monte Vista took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against De La Salle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Spartans on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (115-107) Monte Vista actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 19-25, 29-27, 26-24, 16-14.

Meanwhile, San Ramon Valley earned a 3-1 victory over Dougherty Valley on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

San Ramon Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.

Monte Vista's win bumped their record up to 2-12. As for San Ramon Valley, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-7.

Monte Vista might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from San Ramon Valley in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
