Basketball Game Preview: Hearne Eagles vs. Somerville Yeguas

Hearne is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Somerville a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Hearne Eagles will host the Somerville Yeguas at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Hearne was beaten by Mumford 80-24. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1410th, while the Mustangs are ranked 359th).

Meanwhile, Somerville played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 57-27 loss at the hands of Snook. The Yeguas were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Somerville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Hearne, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Everything came up roses for Hearne against Somerville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the squad secured a 51-22 win. Will Hearne repeat their success, or does Somerville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
