Soccer Game Preview: Hickory Grove Christian vs. Gaston Day

The Hickory Grove Christian Lions will head out to take on the Gaston Day Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Hickory Grove Christian's offense. They came up short against Charlotte Christian on Thursday, falling 6-0. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Gaston Day also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 4-0 to Legion Collegiate Academy on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost three in a row.

Hickory Grove Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gaston Day, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Hickory Grove Christian skirted past Gaston Day 1-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hickory Grove Christian since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
