Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Patriots vs. Shipley

The Archbishop Carroll Patriots will challenge Shipley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Archbishop Carroll took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Frankford.

Jalyn Tidwell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Mulligan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Shipley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They put the hurt on Friends' Central with a sharp 8-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Shipley has posted against Friends' Central since May 16, 2018.

Shipley pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
