Softball Recap: Traverse City West Comes Up Short

If Traverse City West was feeling good fresh off their 12-1 takedown of Kalkaska last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans came up short against the Elk Rapids Elks on Wednesday, falling 16-6. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Elks: they've now lost three in a row.

Sydney Fleming was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Traverse City West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Elk Rapids, the victory (which was their sixth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Traverse City West will host Mona Shores at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sailors have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Elk Rapids, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Petoskey at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
