Baseball Recap: Shasta Comes Up Short

Shasta lost against Enterprise last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wolves fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by just one run.

Jaydon Oliver was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Shasta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Shasta and nudges their season record down to 10-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Enterprise, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shasta will host Chico at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Enterprise, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Pleasant Valley at 2:00 p.m.
