Basketball Recap: Southeast Halifax Takes a Loss

Southeast Halifax fought the good fight in their overtime game against Weldon on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Weldon Chargers. The Trojans' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Southeast Halifax saw an underclassman step up: sophomore O'Tavion Arrington went 12-for-18 to rack up 36 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 56.3% of Southeast Halifax's points, marking the third time in a row Arrington has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arthur Joseph Jr., who put up ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Southeast Halifax smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Southeast Halifax's defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Weldon, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.

Southeast Halifax does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weldon, they have already played their next matchup, a 73-72 victory against Rocky Mount Prep on the 17th.
