Basketball Game Preview: Fort Sumner/House vs. Texico Wolverines

Fort Sumner/House will square off against the Texico Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fort Sumner/House took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dora 87-43. Given Fort Sumner/House's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Dora is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Texico came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 64-28 victory over the Falcons. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wolverines had established a 25 point advantage.

Texico's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for Fort Sumner/House, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Fort Sumner/House was able to grind out a solid win over Texico when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 78-71. Will Fort Sumner/House repeat their success, or does Texico have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
