Baseball Recap: Silver Creek Has No Trouble Against Skyline

Silver Creek lost to Skyline back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Raptors put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Raptors have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nolan Gaccetta tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Silver Creek is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Nathen Canfield was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Silver Creek's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Brody Simpson was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Silver Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Silver Creek will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Erie at 4:00 p.m. As for Skyline, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Skyline Falcons face off against Adams City Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
