Softball Recap: Bunker Hill Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Bunker Hill proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Elyria Pioneers 4-2.

Serena Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Victoria Bentley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Bunker Hill has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Elyria, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Bunker Hill wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-0 victory against St. Stephens on the 22nd. As for Elyria, they will face off against Mapleton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
