Softball Game Preview: Southeastern RVT Hawks vs. Tri-County RVT Cougars

The Southeastern RVT Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Tri-County RVT Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southeastern RVT was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Blue Hills RVT on Monday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Warriors.

Becca Hornung was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Hornung wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Precourt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Abby Spencer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Tri-County RVT had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Minutemen 14-2.

Southeastern RVT pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-County RVT, their record is now 9-1.

Southeastern RVT skirted past Tri-County RVT 3-2 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
