Recap: Nebraska Lutheran vs. Thayer Central

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between Nebraska Lutheran and Thayer Central. Nebraska Lutheran crushed Thayer Central last week, winning 68 - 16. The margin wasn't a surprise since Nebraska Lutheran is ranked many positions ahead of Thayer Central in the nation.

With 60 points in the first half, Nebraska Lutheran started the game off on a good foot. That gave them a 60 - 0 advantage at the half. Even though the defense allowed 16 points in the second half, it wasn't enough to keep the team from victory.

Nebraska Lutheran can chalk up much of its success to the efforts of senior Kyle Richert, who earned four touchdowns and 125 yards rushing the ball. In addition, Richert has now posted three consecutive games with over 100 yards rushing. Senior Ben Riegsecker was in the mix too, providing Nebraska Lutheran with two touchdowns.

Despite Thayer Central's defeat, the squad still enjoyed a top-notch performance from junior Isaiah Keilwitz, who ran for 165 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. This also marked the 4th consecutive game in which Keilwitz rushed for 100+ yards.

The win bumped Nebraska Lutheran's record up to 8-1. The defeat dropped Thayer Central's record to 4-5.

The Nebraska Lutheran squad is hoping to improve its record as its season nears the close. Nebraska Lutheran will look to defend its home turf against East Butler this Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Nebraska Lutheran has stomped its last four opponents, so East Butler might have its hands full.
