Baseball Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Hershey Trojans
The Carlisle Thundering Herd will square off against the Hershey Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlisle will be strutting in after a victory while Hershey will be coming in after a defeat.
Carlisle was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lebanon on Friday. The Thundering Herd put the hurt on the Cedars with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thundering Herd as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Bryce Hockley looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Carlisle's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Carlisle got a massive performance out of Curtis Stroud, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Stroud a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Ream, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Hershey's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Land on Wednesday. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Hershey also got a good showing from Colton Fultz, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Fultz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Carlisle's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Hershey, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
