Lake Havasu barely beat Verrado the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Lake Havasu's way against Verrado on Saturday as Lake Havasu made off with a 16-1 victory. The Knights have beaten the Vipers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vipers has come to flipping the script.
Landen Nigg looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brock Cross, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Carson Lockman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Lake Havasu always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Verrado only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, Agua Fria lost 14-3 to Thunderbird on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.
Agua Fria saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Heredia, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Dylan Lavin was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Agua Fria's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lake Havasu, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Agua Fria's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Havasu hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. It's a different story for Agua Fria, though, as they've only averaged .206. Will they be able to contain Lake Havasu's hitters?
Lake Havasu took their victory against Agua Fria when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 12-0. Will Lake Havasu repeat their success, or does Agua Fria have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
