Basketball Recap: Morrill Falls Despite Big Games from Brooklyn Brown and Katelyn Walker

Morrill has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 49-33 bruising from the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 65-43 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Morrill had strong showings from Katelyn Walker, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 17 points, and Brooklyn Brown, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Brown a new career-high.

Morrill's record is now 12-7. As for Gordon-Rushville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Morrill Lions face off against the Hemingford Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gordon-Rushville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-34 loss against Leyton on the 1st.
