Volleyball Recap: Trinity Prep Falls Despite Big Games from Chloe Sanchez and Tabitha Gunning

Trinity Prep entered their match against Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Crusaders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Trinity Prep started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Trinity Prep had strong showings from Tabitha Gunning, who had 11 aces and six digs, and Chloe Sanchez, who had eight aces and four digs. Gunning is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lilanny Reyes- Mendoza, who had five aces and four digs.

Trinity Prep's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Trinity Prep will head out to take on Marin Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge North Hills Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
