Recap: Putnam City West Patriots vs. Booker T. Washington Hornets
Even though the Putnam City West Patriots have not done well against the Booker T. Washington Hornets recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Putnam City West walked away with a 34-23 victory over Booker T. Washington. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Putnam City West.
Putnam City West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dujuan Knight, who rushed for 119 yards, and also picked up 89 receiving yards. Knight was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 63 yards. Shyheim Johnson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Booker T. Washington had strong showings from Mykah Washington, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and Kuhron Ross, who rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Putnam City West's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Booker T. Washington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Putnam City West will head out on the road to face off against Ponca City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Ponca City is ranked 93rd, while Putnam City West is ranked 88th). Booker T. Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
