Basketball Game Preview: Clayton Comets vs. Garner Trojans

Clayton is 2-8 against Garner since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clayton Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Garner Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clayton comes in on eight and Garner on five.

Last Tuesday, Clayton narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Garner 60-57. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Titans are ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Garner posted their closest win since November 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Southeast Raleigh 49-46.

Garner's victory bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Clayton, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Clayton came up short against Garner in their previous meeting back in January, falling 57-52. Can Clayton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
