Volleyball Game Preview: Wayland Warriors vs. Concord-Carlisle Patriots

The Wayland Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Concord-Carlisle Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Wayland came up short against Wakefield Memorial and fell 3-1. While Wayland didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Wakefield Memorial 25-18 in the first set.

Wayland started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-17, 25-11, 27-25.

Burlington typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Concord-Carlisle proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Red Devils. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Concord-Carlisle got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15.

Concord-Carlisle now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Wayland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Wayland beat Concord-Carlisle 3-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
